On November 20, 2025, JASCO, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit and with support from the National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS) and the Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., hosted a business seminar titled “Building a Resilient Supply Chain.”
The seminar began with opening remarks from Mr. Hajime (Jimmy) Kishimori, Consul General of Japan in Detroit, followed by a keynote presentation delivered by Ms. Teruko Wada, Executive Director of Keidanren USA, who spoke about the latest business trends among Japanese corporations.
The program continued with insights from Mr. Jeff Spain, Senior Director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) at Columbus State Community College, and Mr. Josh Compton, COO/Partner at ClearView Management Resources, who presented findings from the 2025 MAGNET’s 2025 Ohio Manufacturing Survey. Additionally, three companies—Kobe Steel USA, PLOTWORK USA, and Celonis—shared their strategies and best practices for diversifying and strengthening their supply chains.
Following the seminar, attendees enjoyed the networking reception “Taste of Japan,” a celebration of Japanese cuisine featuring local Japanese restaurants. As this was the inaugural “Taste of Japan,” five Ohio-based restaurants and food vendors participated, offering their signature dishes that delighted attendees:
Satori Ramen Bar : 59 Spruce Street, Columbus, OH, 43215
Asuka Ramen : 7541 Sawmill Rd., Dublin, OH, 43016
BentOn : 851 Loveland Madeira Rd., Loveland, OH 45140
Osaka Tonkatsu : 194 S. High St. Columbus, OH, 43215
Song Lan Restaurant : 6628 Riverside Drive, Dublin, OH, 43017
The event welcomed nearly 100 participants representing more than 50 organizations, including guests from beyond the state of Ohio.
The strong turnout and positive feedback reflect the community’s enthusiasm for continued learning and collaboration. We are grateful to all presenters, partners, and restaurants who made this event possible, and we look forward to hosting future programs that bring people together across sectors and cultures, strengthening connections and fostering mutual understanding between Japan and the United States in Central Ohio.
