These courses are designed for learners who have limited experience with Japanese study, including self-study through apps or previous college study many years ago, and have knowledge of hiragana and katakana. The course focuses on oral communication, with some practice with reading/writing, and everyday Japanese culture. Enrolling students should have had limited exposure to learning Japanese.

Beginning I courses use Marugoto A1 book:
